SUMMARY

The Safety Manager provides leadership for plant health and safety programs within an industrial manufacturing environment. This position develops and maintains safety policies, ensures regulatory compliance, leads employee training and incident investigations, and promotes a strong safety culture throughout the facility. The manager will also oversee and develop one safety professional.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Develop and deliver safety training for managers and employees.
  • Lead weekly safety meetings and coordinate EHS communications.
  • Conduct plant inspections, identify risks, and ensure corrective actions are completed.
  • Lead root-cause investigations involving incidents, injuries, and near misses.
  • Manage workplace incident reporting and agency follow-up.
  • Oversee workers’ compensation claims.
  • Support environmental programs in partnership with corporate resources.
  • Champion PSM practices, including Employee Participation, Mechanical Integrity, and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews.
  • Conduct job-safety analyses and task assessments.
  • Manage, coach, and develop one safety professional.
  • Promote a strong and visible commitment to employee safety.

EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related technical discipline preferred.
  • At least 10 years of health and safety experience in manufacturing, preferably chemical or food processing.
  • Certified Safety Professional designation preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and industrial chemical processes.
  • Experience developing safety programs, conducting training, and leading incident investigations.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work regularly in an operating plant environment.

Salary range is $110,000–$163,000, based on education, experience, skills, and certifications.
