Seeking an experienced Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineer to design, implement, and support advanced process control systems in a manufacturing or process environment. This role requires strong hands-on experience with instrumentation, PLC systems, and commissioning, along with the ability to support projects from concept through startup.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop process control systems and instrumentation solutions
  • Specify instrumentation including pressure, temperature, level, and flow devices
  • Develop and configure PLC-based control systems (discrete, analog, and networked)
  • Ensure compliance with NEC hazardous area classifications and applicable safety standards
  • Prepare and review engineering specifications, design packages, and vendor documentation
  • Support system modifications, upgrades, and standardization efforts across facilities
  • Participate in MOC processes, PHA action items, and technical reviews
  • Assist with permitting and regulatory compliance as needed
  • Provide field support during construction, including troubleshooting and punch list resolution
  • Lead or support loop checks, testing, commissioning, and startup activities
  • Collaborate with EPC firms, vendors, and internal teams (travel ~10%)
Qualifications
  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, or related field
  • 5+ years of I&C experience in a process or manufacturing environment
  • Hands-on experience with PLC programming/configuration (Rockwell, Siemens, or Codesys)
  • Strong knowledge of instrumentation, including installation, calibration, and troubleshooting
  • Experience with industrial communication protocols (Modbus, Profinet/Profibus, Foundation Fieldbus)
  • Proven ability to support system design, testing, commissioning, and startup
  • Familiarity with NEC (Article 500) and functional safety standards (IEC 61508/61511, SIL)
  • Experience working within Management of Change (MOC) systems
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
