Our client, a premier supplier of a variety of building products including roofing materials, coatings and caulks with manufacturing and distribution sites across North America, is seeking a Plant Engineer. Under the guidance of the Plant Manager and Corporate Engineering, will safely drive process improvement within the roll manufacturing facility resulting in gains in efficiency, quality, ease of operation and cost reduction. Good growth potential into Maintenance Management or Corporate Engineering.
— Bachelor’s degree in a Mechanical Engineering (ideal) or related Engineering background with emphasis on machine design and process
— 7 + years of overall experience with extensive knowledge of continuous web handling required.
— Good hands on plant experience with knowledge in maintenance/reliability, CMMS, equipment troubleshooting and root cause analysis (RCA).
— Experience with PLC logic, automation systems and CAD
— Understanding of power transmission & pneumatic components.
— Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP) a plus
— Established history of designing and implementing effective process improvement projects
— Experience with process improvement philosophies such as TPM, Six Sigma or WCM
— Knowledge of Safety and Environmental regulatory requirements associated with manufacturing
—Support company Safety and Health guidelines and facilitate that culture in the plant.
— Develop process documentation including Process Flow Diagrams, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams, Equipment and instrumentation specifications and operator instructions
— Train staff on proper operation of new or revised equipment, maintenance on proper PM requirements of that equipment and EH&S on environmental or safety impact of process
— Develop key process metrics, covering throughput, quality and efficiency, that will drive improvement activity
— Lead major projects and improvement activities.
— Facilitate automation strategy of equipment and operations to reduce human errors, manual touchpoints and improve safety of operations
— Participate in new product development resulting in new process design spanning from the handling of raw materials to palletizing and storage of finished goods
— Interact with other plants to facilitate Best Practice and standardization of processes
— Provide hands on installation support when modifying existing equipment and or installing new equipment
— Perform (RCA) root cause analysis and root cause failure
— Implement preventative and predictive maintain programs via administration and implementation of available technologies (oil analysis, ultrasonic, vibration analysis, thermography, motor testing)
— Limited travel to other facilities as opportunities arise
— Complete Environmental documentation and ensure tracking systems are in compliance
— Develop budgets for future projects and report on completed cost to budget assessment to management
