Great opportunity to join a global chemical industry leader as the Site Lead Instrument, Controls, and Electrical Technician.  Requires extensive technical background performing measurement, reliability and troubleshooting of electrical and instrumentation processes/equipment. You will locate, inspect, diagnose, and correct complex electrical systems, control problems, calibrate instruments and distribution control systems.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

— Work directly with engineering and plant management to scope process improvements, expansions, and or replacements of legacy instrument, controls, and electrical systems.

— Ensure proper operation of all control system components to include: electronic components, valves, switches, DCS and related I/O modules.

— Perform measuring and testing (ex. Ammeters, voltmeters, transducer, calibration devices) to install equipment or replace/repair existing components.

— Inspect, test, and calibrate meters, indicators, gauges (such as flowmeters, pressure gauges, temperature indicators, controllers) to detect abnormal fluctuations.

— Troubleshoot instrumentation transmitter problems from the transmitter, the control loop and the PLC hardware where the devices output is read by the PLC. 

— Proficiently use Rockwell software including RSLogix, FactoryTalk, RSView, VMWare.

— Troubleshoot/ configure the site AC inverters (Allen Bradley and PowerFlex).

— Troubleshoot field control wiring from 120 vac, 24 VDC, to milivolts and miliamps.

— Understand and safely troubleshoot the sites 480 vac power distribution system to include transformers, switchgear, MCC’s, isolated control panels and lighting and receptacle panels.

— Troubleshoot Control Network communications issues to include Ethernet, Ethernet IP, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Data Highway, Data Highway plus, Remote I/O, RS232, and RS422 serial communications.

— Trace plant wiring and draw it in a proper format to have drafting make an electronic copy for plant records.

— Install pneumatic, electronic, and instrumentation equipment.

— Perform electrical installations, repairs, and service equipment per NEC codes.

— Assist with planning layouts, running conduit, wiring and tubing for new and existing installations and developing and carrying out preventative maintenance programs.

— Work in a Computerized Maintenance Management System for work order tracking, time entry, parts procurement, etc.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

— Associates or Technical Degree or BS in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years experience with instrument & controls and electrical distribution (troubleshooting, programming and maintaining) in chemical, pulp & paper, or related PSM plants.

— Solid knowledge of control systems, valves, motors, and instrumentation/ concepts of flow, level, pressure, and temperature

— Experience with DCS / PLC platforms, computer operating systems, networks/ configure and electronic information handling (Allen Bradley/ Rockwell Automation/ Ladder Logic)

— Support compliance efforts of ISO, PSM, OSHA and National Electric Code (NEC)

— Able to work various shifts, irregular hours, emergency call-ins and Overtime as needed
