Excellent opportunity for Sr. Analytical Chemist to supervise and direct a staff of Laboratory Technicians; conducting non-routine analyses and analyses on substances as part of research projects to evaluate chemical and physical properties. Will provide technical expertise for commissioning and support of all laboratory analytical systems/ instruments (ICP-OES, GC, XRF, N-TOC, IEC, Colorimetry, and Density Meters), promoting the accuracy of analytical data and optimum productivity.
— Lead in the development and administration of the Laboratory Quality Control Program including analytical system evaluation using statistical control techniques and external and internal check sample programs.
— Perform diverse analytical and instrument testing utilizing approved methodologies for routine and non-routine samples.
— Create, evaluate and implement new analytical procedures.
— Evaluate and recommend new analytical equipment purchases and provide setup, method development and implementation of new equipment.
— Leads and supports focus on food/ animal food safety, quality assurance, and plant regulatory compliance.
— Serve as a resource for quality teams.
— Review and evaluate potential safety problems with existing or new projects
— Must be able to use, diagnose, and repair all analytical equipment in the Main and satellite laboratories and occasionally train members of the Senior Development and Analytical Instrument Technicians on the use of new equipment and/or techniques.
— Authorize or obtain approval on requisitions of equipment and supplies, authorize work requests, and make recommendations for capital purchases, changes in analytical methods and laboratory operations.
— Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry with 10+ years analytical chemistry experience including wet chemistry, statistical quality control methods, and operation and maintenance of standard analytical equipment. Must have understanding of inorganic chemistry and industrial chemical production.
— Must have experience with ICP, GC, IC, Combustion Analyzers, Colorimetry, TOC, XRF, Density Meters.
— Knowledge of Food Safety compliance, MARSEC, MSHA, FSMA, FSSC
— Understanding / knowledge of LIMS.
— Root cause analysis and corrective action of laboratory issues / instrumentation.
— Thorough knowledge of plant safety, environmental and personnel policies in PSM/ chemical plant environments as well as site processes and products.
— US Citizen or Permanent Resident (green card) is required.
