The Process Control Engineer is responsible for the advanced process controls, safety instrumented system (SIS), and historian applications to progress the operational, SHE and Process Safety performance for multi site chemical operations.
— Develop system and network strategies, implementation plans, budgeting, and project execution for DCS, APC, SIS, and HMI design, maintenance, troubleshooting, tuning, modifications, upgrades, and continuous improvement to optimize plant efficiency and profitability
— Coordinate with production and technical personnel on design, configuration, maintenance and improvements to displays, condition monitoring and analyzer interface, information systems, and reports/logs
— Provide guidance to the sites in designing and maintaining the functional requirements and integrity of SIS systems, life-cycle and alarm rationalization management program
— Participation in technical networks, with awareness in industry best practices and emerging technologies
— Implementation of strategy for operator training simulators and dynamic simulation models
— Support process engineer with data mining, advanced data analysis, and energy conservation/emission reduction initiatives
— Provide user training and assistance to assure safe and competent use of control / safety systems
— Manage technical and equipment support contracts and act as liaison with vendors
— Technical support and advisor for production and technical personnel on Manufacturing Excellence and industry standards (ANSI/ISA – S84.01 (IEC 61511)
— Stewardship of annual budgets
— Bachelor's Degree in Chemical or Electrical Engineering with minimum of 7 years experience with advanced/basic process control, safety instrumented systems, and historian applications in chemical processing industry
— Knowledge and experience with implementing and maintaining maintenance and reliability programs for instrumentation/ controls and SIS
— Knowledgeable in SIS design, maintenance, documentation and life-cycle requirements
— Ability to troubleshoot SIS systems
— Knowledgeable on ISA84 and IEC 61508/61511 SIS standards
— Familiarity with network administration, domain controllers, DCS programming, Honeywell, Triconex, Extrel mass spectrometer, Top Tech, SKF and Bentley Nevada online monitoring systems, a plus
— Ability to travel +25% within North America.
